Beat Müller received his medical degree from the University of Zurich, Switzerland. After completing his surgical training in Switzerland, he moved to the Heidelberg University Hospital for a research fellowship in minimally-invasive surgery (2006 - 2008). He then continued his surgical career at the Heidelberg University Hospital, from 2010-2022, he was the chief of the Minimally Invasive and  Robot-assisted Surgery and while he became the managing senior attending surgeon in 2018. Since 2022, Beat Müller is the head and full professor at the University of Basel and Chair of Digestive Surgery at the University Digestive Health Care Center  Basel, Switzerland. His research focuses on minimally invasive oncological surgery including pancreatic surgery, with a strong focus on novel, robotic assisted surgical techniques. He conducted several prospective randomized clinical multi-centre trials while also conducting translational research with several grants from the German Research Foundation (DFG) in the field of cognition guided surgery.
